Network Essay -- Technology, Computers

Introduction â€Å"It is certainly safe to say that computers have become as integral to modern life as fast food, cell phones, and sport utility vehicles†. (Joe, 2004) We are living in the information-exchanged age. It has been dramatically changed since last decades. How could this happen? The answer will be network. A network can be anything from a simple collection of computers at one location which have been tied together using a particular connectivity medium (such as network cabling) to a giant global network, e.g. internet, which uses several different connectivity media, including microwave and satellite technology. Once, the network is going to falling apart which will be disaster for us. Thus, we should know what will cause of potential network failures when it happens. Nowadays, it should have physical network server if we require to connecting to internet. However, there is a new technology which is called Virtual servers, has been developed by Microsoft that is going to expl oring as well. For a network, security is priority thing. As a large manufacturing firm which has many factories in different regions, how to keep reputation for their business? How to convince customers that trades are safe? Finally, how to deal with the sensitive data which is the other issue should be considered. Chapter I: Potential Network Failures and Solutions In order to keeping network healthy, it should be monitoring network traffic and looking at the various processes and events related to network protocols, which mean it should be prepared to configure some potential network failures. There are several factors which cause the network failure. The following will be main issues which cause the network failure: I. Actus Reus Essay -- Law

Actus Reus Introduction The Criminal Law of England and Wales "means the portion of the law of England and Wales, which deals with the components and consequences of criminal acts. The English criminal law is in large part not regulated by law, but in the tradition of common law judge-made law. The offense consists in the English law of Actus Reus and mens rea together. Actus Reus is the Latin term meaning the act of guilt (the outer or objective of a criminal offense). This is an essential element in the determination of a crime. Thus, when no reasonable doubt exists as a result of the demonstration of proof, the act of guilt, shown together with the intention of the individual to commit a crime (mens rea), creates criminal liability of the accused in criminal jurisdictions that follow the system of common law (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Ireland). Discussion and Analysis Actus Reus literally means conduct of a person. The phrase is used to refer to the element of an offense that involves prohibited conduct. The Actus Reus is one of two elements that make up criminal offenses. The second element is called mens rea or mental state. No crime may legally exist without an Actus Reus, while some regulatory crimes, called strict liability offenses, may exist without a mens rea. Examples of the Actus Reus element of a capital offense would be causing death, causing death while committing another crime, causing the death of a police officer, and causing death by using a bomb. In each of the examples, the mental state of the defendant is not relevant to Actus Reus. The mental state is relevant for the second element, i.e., the mens rea. General Perception The Actus Reus requirement is met if a defendant purpose... ...air, Medico legal Aspects of Automatism, qtd in McClain v. Make Cigarettes Illegal

One of the largest and most problematic health issues in our society is smoking. Smoking is currently the leading cause of death in our country, due to its harmful and addicting contents, such as nicotine. Although millions die from it each year, smoking is the single most preventable cause of death. Since there is such a high number of deaths, enormous numbers of smoking related diseases, and damage to planet earth, smoking should be made illegal. The first reason smoking should be illegal is because it is detrimental and an addicting drug, just like many illegal ones. Methamphetamine, and crack are some of the most dangerous drugs to use but what many people do not know is Nicotine is just as harmful. According to a chart in Health and Wellness, experts rate on how easy it is to become addicted and how difficult it is to quit. Using various drugs, 100 is the highest addiction potential. Number one on the chart for being most addictive was Nicotine with a score of 100 for having the most addiction potential. Number two was Methamphetamine(smoked) with a score of 96. Number three was Crack with a score of 94. Number 4 was Methamphetamine (injected) with a score of 90. Of the 4 top addictive drugs listed, all are illegal except Nicotine. Nicotine has a much higher death and addiction rate than both meth and crack put together, yet nicotine and cigarettes are still legal. Another reason smoking should be illegal is 50,000 people die each year due to second hand smoke. Is it fair that people who do not smoke are forced to breathe in the chemicals of cigarettes? Is it fair that people who do not smoke are struck with smoking related diseases? Many people believe that solving the problem could be as simple as prohibiting smoking in public places. It does seem to make sense but when you think it out thoroughly, it is not nearly solving any problem. Yes, the number of second hand smoke related deaths would decrease but would not be eliminated. People in public would not have to worry about cigarette smoke but who would? Children. This law would be forcing them to live in a house full of smoke. Yes, the number of second hand smoke related deaths would go down but this law would increase the number children dying or suffering from cigarette smoke. As of today, americanheart. org states that about  60 percent of American children ages 4–11 are exposed to secondhand smoke at home. Studies have shown that children (especially infants) of parents who smoke have more lung illnesses, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, and can develop asthma. What is that percentage going to be when the only place smokers can smoke is home? Children from ages 4-11 are not the only ones suffering from this drug. Unborn babies are greatly affected by cigarettes. How could any expecting mother put their baby at risk for any damage to their innocent, undeveloped bodies. It is completely unethical and disgusting that something so dangerous to an unborn baby is legal! TheTruth. rg states that every single year smoking durning pregnancy and exposure to second hand smoke results in the death of 776 infants and unborn fetuses every year. That is 776 too many! Other than death, there are many other complications that come with smoking during pregnancy . Low birth weight, premature birth which can cause learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, and mental retardation. Marchofdimes. com held a stu dy that showed women who smoke anytime during the month before pregnancy to the end of the first trimester are more likely to have a baby with birth defects, particularly congenital heart defects  . The risk of heart defects appears to increase with the number of cigarettes a woman smokes. Expecting mothers should not even have this option because smoking should be illegal. Besides babies, here are some problems that come along for anyone who is exposed to cigarette smoke. †¢Reduces fertility †¢Increases likelihood of impotence †¢Contributes to thin bones †¢Affects mental capacity and memory †¢Reduces levels of folate, low levels of which can increase the risk of heart disease, depression, and Alzheimer's disease †¢Affects ability to smell and taste †¢Increases risk of depression in adolescents Increases risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure †¢Increases risk of diabetes †¢Increases risk of cancer †¢Causes breathing problems †¢Reduces immune system and get colds and flu more easily ( http://healthliteracy. worlded. org) I think by now, it is pretty obvious that cigarettes are very unhealthy. What is it exactly th at make them unhealthy? Almost everything in them! according to healthyliteracy. worldwide. org There are over 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes. 51 of them are known to be carcinogenic. A carcinogen is something that causes cancer. Cancer is a disease that often kills those who have it. Chemicals in cigarettes and cigarette smoke are known to cause not only cancer but also other serious health problems. Many of the chemicals are poisonous. If a person ate one pack of cigarettes, he/she would die. Some of the familiar chemicals in cigarettes are- Carbon Monoxide which is found in car exhaust. Nicotine, a strong poisonous drug. It is the main ingredient in bug sprays. In its pure form, just one drop on a person's tongue would kill him/her. Tar, a material to make roads. Arsenic, rat poisoning. Ammonia, which is cleaning products. Hydrogen Cyanide, gas chamber poison. Cyanide, deadly poison. Acetone, nail polish remover. Butane, cigarette lighter fluid. DDT, insecticides. Formaldehyde, fluid used to preserve dead bodies. Sulfuric Acid, in car batteries. Cadmium, Used to recharge batteries. Freon, damages earths ozone layer. Maltitol, a sweetener not permitted to be used in foods in the U. S Although America is a free county and many people believe that smoking is a choice of freedom, there should be no freedom in killing yourself and others. Some people would argue that smoking should not be illegal because there are many things a person can do that are just as dangerous. For example, skydiving. While skydiving may dangerous, it is not the number one most preventable cause of death in America. Yes, an activity such as skydiving is taking a huge risk of danger but it is not guaranteed that you will get sick or die. Skydiving is regulated to make sure the health and wellbeing of a diver whether professional or non professional does not perish when attempting to jump. As for cigarettes there are no state or federal regulations that protect you or help you from disease or death. With all of this being said, I strongly believe that there is no need for such a deadly product that is useless in todays society.

Barangay profiling system Essay

1.1 Introduction The findings of the study will contribute to our understanding of urbanization, local governance and the consequences of migration at the macro level in Barangay Upper Calarian. It will help policy makers (local government units) identify areas where urbanization mechanism can contribute positively to the development of the said barangay. Moreover, program implementers and service providers will also learn from the lessons gathered on urbanization and local governance. At the local level, existing programs can further be improved. One of the exciting ways in which the computer service is in the field of information retrieval and operations – the search for facts which, together with the operations done on it, are stored in a central storage area. Computer – based information retrieval operates through the use of software that can offer information services for an institution. An information service provides a way to electronically access, retrieve, and transmit the needed information. Statement of the Problem The Local Government Units of Zamboanga have long been with computers to be used in operations such as transactions, records and other businesses. That is, through computer technology. But up to now, those computers had not been used to their fullest capabilities. Barangay offices still rely on manual labor not on the machines as their frontline of service and operations. Some things are neglected. One, Standard Operating Procedures are not followed. Anyone can have his clearance signed or business permit released even if the authorized person to approve it, for example the Barangay Captain, is not present. The office has at least signed blank clearances and/ or permits in this case. Thus, the reliability of such can be questioned. Two, it’s because all of the facts and information on the barangay is kept on papers, the should – be manifestation of the maximized usage of computer is not attained and therefore causes the slow retrieval of information and transactions. And lastly, hard copies of the files, transactions held and other matters require a large file cabinet to hold them which in many case, is a case of an unorganized file management system. Significance of the Study A Computer Information Service represents a giant leap in computerized system of barangay transactions and records handling. They can provide up-to-the information with relatively little effort on the part of the user and put a huge amount of information within easy, convenient and comfortable reach. Not mentioning the security and integrity of the transactions and of the documents it also provides. This study aims to present possible solution to the problems stated and to enhance the quality of service a barangay office offers to its clients. Furthermore, this serves as an awakening factor for all government offices, from highest to lowest levels, to be in line with the government’s view of globalization and competitiveness in today’s Information Age.

Analysis and Interpretation of Don Juan

Byron coined the term â€Å"Byronic Hero†. Don Juan is definitely a Byronic Hero. He has all the Characteristics of a Byronic Hero. This poem constantly takes me back to the 1800s, because at that time women had no rights at all. If they married someone then they were treated like property of their husbands and if they stayed single then their parents dictated every single thing she did with every single person. For most part women were not allowed to stay single unless they were nuns or prostitutes. Even when they were married they were not allowed to hold control of inherited wealth. They did not have the right to own a slave or even vote. Women were economically dependent. If a woman did something wrong and people find out about it, she would be tainted and blemished forever and also banished from society but if a man does the same thing or even worse, he could still be able to hold his head up high in society. Julia married Alfonso only because she had to. Alfonso never showed his jealousy because nobody likes a jealous person. Alfonso cared about what people thought and he was cleaver and careful. He never wanted people to know about his illegal affairs. I personally think Donna Inez is a psychopath and a Sociopath both. I mean why else would she use her son to destroy the relationship of her lover and his wife. Julia is not as complicated as Inez. Julia does not realize what Inez had in her mind. I think she thought Inez actually wanted to be her friend. Being a simple girl Julia probably didn’t know about Alfonso and Inez’s affair. When Juan was a child Julia showed affection for him but that was just normal and innocent. When Juan hit puberty something changed between both of them. They felt attracted to each other. As a grown woman Julia realized why she was feeling this way. But Juan is completely different. His mother never let him mix and mingle with people of his own age. At first he didn’t even realize what was happening to him. This poem follows a third person point of view. In these stanza’s Byron talks about lot of important issues but the tone is always humorous and satiric. Don Juan is a lot like Byron himself. The difference is Byron was highly educated and Juan had no interest in that line. Analysis and Interpretation of Don Juan Byron coined the term â€Å"Byronic Hero†. Managing Human Resources (Reflecting on the issue raised by the Sales Essay

Managing Human Resources (Reflecting on the issue raised by the Sales Manager) - Essay Example These are important in order to build a successful manufacturer - sales agent relationship". Sales representatives also give importance to product package, quality product lines that are competitive in terms of effectiveness and affordability. They are particular in the quality and delivery of the products and most importantly, sales people seek to represent organization that has proven integrity and are supportive of agents (Spiegel 2006). While looking at the factors mentioned, sales management can conduct teambuilding for the sales representatives. Sales people are so vital to the organization that it is important to invest in them. Management should make the sales people feel they are important. Bonding and trust in each other are created during team building and sales people always look forward to this kind of activity. Feeling a sense of belonging make them stay long in the organization. Sales planning should also be conducted in a venue outside the company. In this particular activity, people give their sales commitment with the corresponding action plan that they would take to insure the achievement of the sales target. Improvement in the sales performance is observed after a sales planning. A medium-size streamer is displayed conspicuously at the lobby on the way to the conference room where orientation for new employees takes place. The text on the streamer says, "At NL&C, you're in good hands. We insure your future through the 401 (k) Retirement Plans". At this stage when new employees have just begun an episode of their lives with NL&C, they will know that obviously the streamer is exclusively for their curious eyes and questioning mind. The streamer was placed along their path for them to see and feel the caring hands of NL&C from the start and through their stay with their newfound company. Apparently, as in-charge of employees' benefits, I think I was able to effectively put the message across. My purpose of putting 401 (k) retirement plans in the text is to stir the curiosity of the new employees. Many of them, especially the first timer or those who come from another company which does not offer the same privilege, would ask what 401 (k) is. I understand that although 401(k) will benefit them, there will be a lot of questions and some opposition. I have to give them advance information of what will be discussed during the orientation. I want them to be excited so that the appetite to listen attentively will prevail as soon as they enter the conference room. After some explanation of the company rules and regulations, its time for the new employees to hear why it is worth partnering with NL&C. 401(k) along with other benefits will be explained this way: First of all, there are protections and benefits that go with the new workers everyday while they work with the company. On top of them there is the 401(k) retirement plans which afford them of a long term benefit. A portion of their salary will be put aside for their

Egan's Justification for Recommending Health and Safety Improvements Research Paper

Egan's Justification for Recommending Health and Safety Improvements in Construction Industry - Research Paper Example This clearly shows that the service provided in this sector is poor. Improvements in the health and safety construction sector, guarantee clients the best services, and it is obvious that the profit made will be up the scale. Egan argued that for the health, and safety construction sector to achieve its full potential, there was need for only people who are qualified to be employed. If the new employees are not qualified, they should be trained. Egan came up with the idea of hiring more employees; there was the need for 370,000 new employees to be hired by the health and safety sector and each of the new employees was to be trained (Chinyio & Olomolaiye, 2010: 155). He also proposed for institutions to have a guide to assist employees and a code of ethical working practice for contractors, trade unions and clients. The employees need to be aware of whom they are dealing with; this helps them follow the right channel in case of an emergency. Main elements of Egan’s proposals to achieve this improvement Pioneering projects are the ventures laid down by an establishment to improve the performance of the establishment. This can be internal contests laid down to motivate the performance of every employee. The establishment could come up with remuneration on the employee of the year award. This will guarantee quality services from the employees, because the employees will be contending for the coveted price. On the subject of profit gained in the sector, by improving the working environment of the employees, they certainly perk up how they offer services to clients. This boosts the amount of profit earned, because when clients get the best in terms of service they will definitely spread the word to the people around them; this also applies in poor service. The real concern that needs to be taken into deliberation is the issue of health and safety sector for the employees (Booth, 2012: 64). When the employees’ health and safety is taken into account, eve rything else falls in place. When an establishment leases more employees, each employee feels the significance of his or her input in the company. Due to getting only qualified staff the best service is guaranteed for clients. This also applies in the argument of coming up with trade unions, these unions brace the relationship between the establishments and the clients. The employees need to know their input in an industry, and the clients should also be aware of the output of an industry they have an alliance with, trade unions help in achieving this goal. When all these issues are taken into consideration, the intended profit will be able to assist the industry develop other sectors. The health section should also focus on making the employees feel the urge to work. This can be done by introducing leisure activities, that will help them relax. The main principles of BREEAM system, and how the system operates in practice BREEAM system was formed to ensure environmental quality cons truction through accessible, un-hostile and unprejudiced measure of ecological impacts. The BREEAM system creates the possibility of covering all construction areas (Senaratne and Sexton, 2011: 209). This is because the system does not focus on the specified areas only, it weigh’s its focus on all the areas that need to be developed, and works to achieve this target. BREEAM aims to use qualified measures to determine environmental qu
